The Process

How did it come to be?

The original ideas that sparked to make an album had to do when listening to the Kids See Ghosts album by Kanye West, as it was a seven song album that still resonated with listeners. That is the kind of energy I wanted to create. When the album was being made, I was always thinking about the great artists and producers who I aspire to emulate in my work.

I wanted to show my capabilities and try to show emotions through my work. That said, my global context was personal and cultural expression. I wanted to find what made the works of these legendary musicians sound so unique and pleasant, and try to emulate those.

Some of the major issues that I encountered in the project was defining what a pleasant song was. In the end, when simplified to it's highest degree, what makes a song pleasant is the melodics of a song. This allowed me to further research what makes a song sound pleasant.

In the end, my album came together quite smoothly, and I am proud of what I have made even if it is not perfect.

The Making of the Album

A tiring process with an ending that feels like ascension

When I first started this project over a little over 7 months ago, I thought that I had all the skills necessary for making my product, however, this was most definitely not the case. My first step was making sure that I had all the correct information to make my album. I started by interviewing two people for my project, my DJ Teacher Joshua J, and my piano teacher Joao Driessen. Both are more experienced in their respective subjects than I am. This is where everything started, researching and learning how I would construct the piece of work that is my album.

After 3 months of improving my skillset, it was time for me to start constructing the actual album. This was one of the most important stages, as I proved my worth. I worked day and night on my project, ignoring school assignments and putting off friends to work on my project. Some days I worked over night without sleep. I let my creativity flow throughout my work. I put all of my skills into my project, and when it was all said and done, the screaming stopped.

Silence at long last.

The storm to the sun.

A moment of peace had occurred. The relief and satisfaction of it all had settled in. I accomplished my project. I accomplished my end goal. I have succeeded.

When listening to my project, you can hear my effort and time. My project displays who I am, even if not perfect. I think product that this reflects who I am. I hope that the product shows you the same enjoyment I had when making it.

I guess what I am trying to say is that anything is what you make it. So live your life the way you very well want to and don't let anybody tell you differently.
